About Me
Alyson Harvey, mezzo-soprano

Alyson Harvey’s performances have been described in reviews as “sterling,” “theatrically meaningful,” and “beautiful, compelling, and inspired.” She is acclaimed for her concert and recital work in a variety of repertoire from Bach to Brahms to Britten, and has appeared with many organizations across the US, including Tempesta di Mare, Princeton Pro Musica, The Brandywine Baroque Ensemble, the Manhattan Choral Ensemble, the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, The Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra, the Berkshire Bach Society, The Philadelphia Singers, The Westminster Choir, the Riverside Choral Society of New York City, and The Philadelphia Orchestra where she was soloist in Bernstein‘s Chichester Psalms under the baton of Bobby McFerrin. She made her Carnegie Hall debut with the Masterwork Chorus of NJ, conducted by Andrew Megill, in Handel’s Messiah, appearing with them again in their 50th Anniversary concert of Bach’s B Minor Mass where her “Agnus Dei” was reviewed as “heartrending.”

Alyson has appeared at The Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center, the Connecticut Early Music Festival, The Copland Festival of the New York Philharmonic, and at both the US and Italian Spoleto Festivals, where she had the pleasure of working directly with Gian Carlo Menotti in a production of Puccini‘s Suor Angelica. She is a long time member of Fuma Sacra, whose home is in Princeton, NJ, and is a regular member of the Carmel Bach Festival held each summer in California.

Alyson holds degrees in Voice and Opera from Westminster Choir College and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She maintains a private voice studio in Philadelphia, and in Philadelphia she can frequently be found singing at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church.  Home is also in Philadelphia where she happily resides with husband Rich, and kitties Mikey and Judy.
